MyGov Account

Do you already have a myGov account?

If not it may be time to set one up.

Your also need to log onto your myGov account on a regular basis to check for notices received.

The Australian Taxation Office are now uploading most tax related documents to your myGov account. These may include:

  • Your payment summary (Group Certificate).
  • Your Income Tax Notice of Assessment
  • ATO Statement of Account
  • Changes to your PAYG instalments
  • Other ATO notices

These notices are no longer being sent to our office, instead they are being uploaded to myGov accounts.

If you miss downloading a notice that requires payments, you run the risk of receiving penalties for late payment.

To set up a MyGov account you will need an email address

Responsibility as a director of the corporate trustee of a SMSF

It’s important that you understand your role as a director of the corporate trustee of your SMSF, and your responsibilities in managing your fund. You can find your duties and responsibilities in the SMSF Trustee Declaration that you signed when you became a trustee. We encourage you to undertake free courses that the ATO have to help you build your knowledge. They can be found at www.ato.gov.au/smsfcourses

 

The ATO have a range of easy-to-access resources that can help you meet your responsibilities and obligations. They cover important topics, including:

    • regularly reviewing your trust deed
    • when you need to appoint an approved SMSF auditor and how to lodge an SMSF annual return
    • letting us know within 28 days of becoming aware of changes to your fund, including members, trustees or directors, associates or contact details. You can find more information on the ATO website www.ato.gov.au/smsf
